DARI KOMPETISI KE HABITUS RISET: PENGELOLAAN TALENTA SISWA MELALUI PROGRAM MYRES DI MTsN 1 MAGELANG

This study examines how student research talent is managed through the Madrasah Young Researchers Supercamp (MYRES) program at MTsN 1 Magelang, Indonesia. Unlike previous studies that tend to position MYRES mainly as a competition-oriented or academic coaching program, this study conceptualizes MYRES as a research talent pipeline embedded in the madrasah ecosystem. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis involving madrasah leaders, MYRES supervisors, student participants, and supporting stakeholders. The findings show that MYRES connects student selection, research classes, weekly research instruction, proposal mentoring, staged evaluation, and competition participation. This pipeline is strengthened by cross-disciplinary mentoring, parental and institutional support, external partnerships, and the Borobudur local context, which provides rich social, cultural, economic, religious, and environmental research themes. Nevertheless, implementation still involves tensions related to academic workload, limited facilities and funding, complex research topics, dependence on external partners, and students' confidence in scientific presentation. The study contributes to Islamic education management by showing that research-based talent management in madrasahs requires a structured, contextual, inclusive, and sustainable ecosystem for forming students' research habitus, peer research aspirations, and institutional reputation.
